Feed My People

FMPLineThe Feed My People Program is a collaboration of 15 religious congregations in the Austin community that serve the homeless and working poor population at First United Methodist Church’s Family Life Center in downtown Austin. The Feed My People Program congregations provide the volunteers and serve a filling, hot breakfast along with other limited services on Tuesdays and Thursdays (except for Thanksgiving). First United Methodist Church’s Family Life Center is located at 1300 Lavaca Street.

Features of Feed My People:

  • Hot breakfast provided and served by volunteers from 15 congregations and the Austin community
  • Doors open between 5-5:15am, breakfast begins at 6am and ends when food runs out or at 7am
  • Clothing, clean white socks, shoes, toiletry items, caps, blankets and backpacks provided when available (not available every Tues/Thurs)
  • Showers
  • Haircuts provided when volunteer available
  • Eyeglass referrals provided on a case by case basis on most Tuesdays
  • Assistance with birth certificates; Texas driver licenses and I.D. cards; and CapMetro MIP cards, on a first-come, first-served basis, as funds are available, on Tuesday mornings only
  • Caring individuals to provide a listening ear and emotional support when requested
  • Chapel service and AA meeting available on most Thursdays at 6:30am
